Apr 3, 2023 | 4:35 PM

Three youths have been charged with a break-in at a Tisdale gun store on March 24th.

Tisdale RCMP announced the arrests Monday afternoon. Charges against the three youths include break and enter with intent to steal a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possessing a weapon obtained by crime.

One of the youths, who cannot be identified, appeared in Melfort Provincial Court Monday morning. The other two are scheduled to appear on May 8th in Melfort.

“Tisdale RCMP have received multiple tips from the public which contributed to officers being able to identify four individuals involved in the firearms theft,” said a news release from the RCMP.

“Efforts to locate the fourth, and final, male youth involved in the theft of the firearms is ongoing,” said the release. “Officers continue to conduct proactive patrols in the community to help maintain safety and gather any additional information.”

RCMP said the theft happened around 1:54 am on March 24, and the thieves took between six and eight long guns, but no ammunition. An RCMP spokesperson said some of the firearms have since been recovered, but not all of them.

At the time, police said they were looking for three males wearing dark-coloured clothing and believed at least one of them had been travelling in a silver Nissan Rogue, which was caught on surveillance at a Tisdale gas station, minutes before the break-in.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crime to call them, or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
