Ananas re-elected Chief at Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation

The band council at Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation (BOCN) is a mix of new and familiar faces, following Friday’s election.

Edwin Ananas Sr. has been re-elected Chief.

Ananas told paNOW as the re-elected chief for BOCN he will continue to advocate for a healthier community by continuing to bring in more housing.

“Building businesses relationships with out partners to create job opportunities. And exploring various salutations to address community safety ie. drugs violence and gang activity,” he said.

While acknowledging the workload of Chief & Council is exhaustive, Ananas reconfirmed the above mentioned issues will be priorities.

“I congratulate and welcome the four newly elected council members who will bring in new ideas and perspectives to the table,” he said. “I look forward to the start of another three year term as Chief of Beardys & Okemasis Cree Nation.”

The councillors are Hal Cameron, Sheryl Okemaysim (re-elected), Warren Seesequasis (re-elected), Chris Gamble, Nicole Gamble, and Melanie Gardypie.
