The nominations for Chief and council of the Montreal Lake Cree Nation (MLCN) have closed with a good selection of candidates, except for Little Red Reserve which has two acclaimed representatives.

Elisa Halkett and Charmaine Ermine were the only two nominated in Little Red, so they kept their seats.

Incumbent Joyce Naytowhow-McLeod is running again for chief as are Edward Henderson and Conrad Bird.

Four names were submitted for the two off-reserve slots, including Jeff Badger, Liza (Henderson) Bird, Tamarick Beatty and Eldon Henderson (incumbent)

The remaining four council seats, currently belong to Dean Henderson (vice chief), while Troy Naytowhow, Carol Naytowhow and Rick Bird will also see a race.

In addition to the incumbents, the names of John Bird, Eleanor Henderson, Keanu Henderson, Allen (Conrad) Naytowhow, Arnold Natowhow, Jeffrey Okemow, Frank Roberts and Steven Stamp have been added.

Election day is March 31 with polling stations at the Little Red Reserve office complex (106B), the band office in Montreal Lake (106), the Holiday Inn Express in Prince Albert and the Hilton Garden Inn in Saskatoon.
