Summons issued for woman accused of van theft

A woman did not make her appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court Thursday had a summons issued to compel her next appearance.

Erin Whitefish was supposed to be in bail court this afternoon but did not appear so a summons was released to have her attend on April 11.

Whitefish is accused of having possession of the stolen van belonging to the Prince Albert Wrestling Club.

The van is used to transport members for practice and tournaments and went missing from an address in the West Flat area in early February.

It was locked, the keys were with the owner and inside were all of the club’s gear, medical supplies and a wrestling dummy.

Tweedsmuir RCMP found the van days later.

According to unconfirmed reports on social media, it had been used in a number of thefts.

A summons is similar to a warrant in that it compels the recipient to attend court but in this case, the judge chose to not issue a warrant based on his information at the time that Whitefish had no criminal record.
