Sanderson clinches Silver at Nationals

Fresh off a gold medal at the CanWest Wrestling championships, Prince Albert’s Cole Sanderson continues to throw his weight around.

Sanderson won a silver medal this past weekend for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, at the U Sports National Wrestling Championships in Edmonton.

Competing in the 68kg. weight class, the former St Mary Marauder had four matches.

On Day 1, Sanderson won his pool with three wins. After defeating UNB’s Drew Coldwell 10-0, Sanderson then went on to beat McMaster’s Luken Lawson 10-0, and Alberta’s Isaac Le Morvan 12-0.

On Day 2, Sanderson lost in the final to Brock University’s Carlos Vargas.

Amongst the 15 schools competing, the University of Saskatchewan men’s wrestling team finished fourth overall. The Brock University Badger men captured their eighth-straight U SPORTS wrestling title.
