PA making its presence known at Canada Games after week one

Week one of the Canada Winter Games is officially in the books.

Athletes who were at the games in Prince Edward Island this past week are now on their way back to the prairies while a new set of athletes from the province are set to get to work in pursuit of a gold medal this week.

After week one, Team Sask. sits in fifth in the medal count with 17, including three gold, seven silver, and seven bronze.

In order of sport, here’s how some of the Prince Albert and area athletes fared in week one:

Jaxon Herchak, Hockey – Silver Medal

• Ryan McDonald, Hockey (coach) – Silver Medal

• Sadie McFarlane, Karate – Ninth

• Lambert Schwartzenberger, Speed Skating (Short Track) – 36th (3000 m Points Race Male), 39th (1000m Male/1500m Male), 40th (500m Male)

In order of sport, here’s our local athletes who will be competing this week:

Jacklyn Sten, Alpine Skiing

Krystle Shewchuk, Cross Country Skiing

Marcail Philp, Cross Country Skiing

Bohden Booth, Curling

Jayden Dauvin, Curling

Julia Shindle, Figure Skating

Stefan Lotz, Figure Skating

Corban Taylor, Judo
