More than $5.5 million raised at Telemiracle 47

Feb 26, 2023 | 6:12 PM

It was another amazing show of support from Saskatchewan residents at the annual Telemiracle Telethon.

At the end of the event on Sunday night, the total amount raised was $5,519,229.

Among the donations his year was an $800,000 gift bequest by Pauline Pawlyshyn of Prince Albert.

Pawlyshyn passed away in April 2022 at the age of 102.

This year’s event, held in Saskatoon, featured a variety of new and familiar faces, as well as a tribute to Bob McGrath.

“He brought this incredible gentlemanly presence to his participation in the show,” Straker said. “He was a great children’s entertainer. He could bring out the child in anybody,” said longtime Telemiracle host Jeff Stracker.

“Every dollar counts and we are so grateful to the people of Saskatchewan for their continuing support,” said Scott Lamb, TeleMiracle 47 chair. “The best part is that all the money raised stays right here in Saskatchewan, to help their friends, neighbours and communities.

The Kinsmen Foundation will use the funds for specialized medical and mobility equipment, assistance with medical travel and new and innovative health-care equipment. Each year, the organization receives more than 1,000 applications for help. The foundation focuses on trying to improve independence and quality of life for people in Saskatchewan.
