Repairs finished after broken sprinkler head causes leak at Art Hauser Centre

Feb 23, 2023 | 12:26 PM

The City of Prince Albert said a massive leak at the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday was due to a broken sprinkler head.

With just under 10 minutes to go in a game between the Prince Albert Mintos and the Battlefords AAA Stars, a puck deflected out of play and broke a sprinkler head.

In a statement sent to paNOW, the city said the remainder of the game was cancelled after the sprinkler system was shut down due to the broken head posing a fire hazard.

“The Art Hauser Centre staff has since cleaned up the water that leaked out of the system and coordinated the necessary repair to the sprinkler head as of this morning (Thursday),” the statement reads.

The city said regularly scheduled programs at the Art Hauser Centre will resume Thursday.

According to Mintos head coach Tim Leonard, the Stars conceded the game, giving the Mintos the 3-2 victory and two points in the standings.

Logan Pickford, Carson Olsen, and Abinet Klassen scored for the Mintos while Ashton Tait had two assists.
