Man sentenced to 5.5 years after thwarted armed robbery attempt in Nipawin
The man who was stopped by several staff members as he attempted to rob a convenience store in Nipawin will do some lengthy jail time.
Robert McKay was given a 2,078 day jail sentence in Nipawin Provincial Court yesterday after pleading guilty to two of the nine charges he was facing.
McKay was convicted of robbery with a firearm and having a weapon contrary to an order.
In addition to the jail time, McKay was given a lifetime ban on owning or possessing any firearm, must submit his DNA to the national database, and the gun he used to try to rob the Par-a-Mart Esso was forfeited.
