Mintos finished weekend slate with a split

PRINCE ALBERT, SK –Prince Albert Mintos began the weekend with a tough loss before ending it on a high note.

The Mintos weekend got started on Friday night when they fell to the league-best Saskatoon Blazers 4-1.

Nolan Patterson had the lone goal for Prince Albert while Scott McLean and Caden Dunn collected the assists on the play.

Luke Dahlen, Tyson Yaremko, and Raiden Zacharias each had a goal and an assist while Cole Reschny had the other marker in the game for Saskatoon. Josh Knittig had a pair of assists and Corban Almen, Reese Hamilton, and Lee Shurgot also had a helper.

Brady Holtvogt had 27 saves for the Mintos while Alex Garrett had 19 stops for the Blazers.

Game two of this weekend got underway on Sunday afternoon when PA shut out the Warman Wildcats 3-0.

Logan Pickford had two goals and an assist while Ashton Tait and Abinet Klassen each had a goal and two assists to round out the scoring.

Jayden Kraus stopped everything Warman shot at him including 27 saves to collect his first shutout of the season.

Corben Schnurr managed 24 saves in the loss.

The Mintos now have an eight-day break before welcoming the Wildcats back to the Art Hauser Centre for a rematch on Feb. 20. Puck drop is scheduled for 1:30pm.
