PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince Albert Raiders kicked off their BC road trip with a win on Saturday night, downing the Prince George Cougars 4-1 at the CN Centre.

The win is PA’s second in a row after defeating the Saskatoon Blades 3-1 last Saturday at home.

Captain Evan Herman and Hayden Pakkala each had two points in the game, with Herman netting two goals and Pakkala registering a goal and an assist. Carter Anderson was the other goal-getter for the Raiders while Niall Crocker, Keaton Sorensen, Seth Tansem, and Sloan Stanick each had assists.

Ondrej Becher was the lone goal scorer for Prince George while Jaxsen Wiebe Chase Wheatcroft both had assists.

Max Hildebrand tallied 28 saves in the contest to help PA improve to 17-25-3-0 on the campaign.

Ty Young managed 26 stops in the contest where the Cougars fall to 19-21-4-0 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Cougars came out of the box fast in the opening period, scoring just 1:01 into the contest. Wiebe fed a nice pass to Becher for his seventh of the season to make it 1-0 early for Prince George.

Later in the period, tempers started to flare between Cole Peardon and Carlin Dezainde. The two decided to settle some differences and both ended up with five-minute penalties as a result. This was the first of three fights in the game as Easton Kovacs and Ross Stanley duked it out in the second while Seth Tansem and Fischer O’Brien dropped the mitts in the third.

A short time after the fight, Pakkala got the Raiders on the board while on the man advantage to tie it up going into the first intermission.

The score remained at one apiece until the last few minutes in the frame. Pakkala picked up his second point of the night, assisting on Anderson’s go-ahead goal to put PA in front.

Just over two minutes later, captain Herman got in on the fun and scored on the solo effort to help the Raiders to a 3-1 lead after two.

Herman scored added another midway through the final period for his second of the game to round out the scoring as the Raiders took it, 4-1.

Prince Albert’s next stop on their BC road trip takes them 11 hours south to Victoria where they will clash with the Royals on Tuesday night. Puck drop is at 9:05pm.
