Man dead after confrontation with P.A. police

Updtate: 10:30a.m. traffic flowing again on South Industrial Drive. Yellow police tape is being used to cordon off sections of two parking lots in the 400 block.

A Prince Albert man is dead after a confrontation with police.

On Jan. 16, around 10:40 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of South Industrial Drive.

Not much else is known at this time except that an unnamed man got into a confrontation with police and during the altercation a firearm was discharged.

The man shot was treated by EMS, transported to hospital but was later declared deceased.

The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is currently investigating the officer-involved shooting. The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) says they’re fully co-operating with the investigation.
