A Prince Albert veteran who ended his service to the monarch and country in March of 1946 has been given a pin marking the 75th anniversary of his time served in the Second World War from the Prince Albert Legion.

Clarence Jackson joined the navy in March 1944 when he was six months shy of 18 and serviced aboard the HMCS Red Deer as a gunlayer.

Jackson stayed on the same ship until the war ended and then was kept on until October 1945, even after the rest of the crew was discharged or reposted.

When he left, he was the last member of the crew and had been a serving member for two years when he was discharged.
