Sask. housing sector has good 2022, despite overall sales numbers down from 2021
Property sales were down across Saskatchewan in 2022, however, this doesn’t mean it was a bad year for the housing sector.
According to the Saskatchewan Realtors Association, which released its last report for the year earlier this week, only two communities had more sales over the past 12 months than they did in 2021. That ended up being North Battleford which had 205 sales, up two per cent, and Melville, which had 96 sales, up three per cent.
Despite this, 20 of the 24 areas they focus on in their reports saw higher sales numbers than what they’ve averaged over the past 10 years. The only communities that didn’t hit this mark were Prince Albert, Weyburn, Estevan, and the Town of Battleford.
These numbers show that 2022 was an above-average year, just wasn’t as good as 2021 was for the market.
