Woman facing first-degree murder charge after Tuesday arrest

Almost 10 months after Taya Sinclair was found deceased and burned in Prince Albert, Prince Albert Police announced an arrest in connection to her death.

Stephanie Halkett-Stevenson was arrested on Tuesday in Saskatoon for unrelated matters and faces a first-degree murder charge.

After being reported missing one day earlier, police found Sinclair deceased and burned on March 15, 2022, near the Alfred Jenkins Field House. She was 24 years old.

Halkett-Stevenson is also charged with aggravated assault, unlawful confinement, and uttering threats involving a person other than Sinclair.
