Prince Albert wrestler wins gold at national tournaments

Prince Albert’s Landon Mudjar has had a golden month.

Competing first at the Bishop Ryan tournament in Ontario, the 17-year-old went undefeated in the 89 kg. Open division.

Winning his first match by points (14-2), Mudjar then went on to pin his next two opponents with times of :36 and 1:12 respectively.

There were 300 wrestlers (boys and girls) at the tournament on Dec. 16.

The following days, Mudjar competed at the Matmen Classic in Brampton, Ontario, and won gold in the 92kg division.

With his recent victories, Mudjar remains undefeated with a record of 12-0 against U19 opponents.

Just over a month prior, Mudjar competed at the Saskatchewan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Provincial championship in Moose Jaw, where he won silver for his adult blue belt division, then beat a purple belt for the Champion of Champions.

His jiu-jitsu record is now 33 wins and four losses.
