Dec 23, 2022 | 11:00 AM

Update: Charges against Alicia Ballantyne were stayed by the Crown on Feb. 10. Crown has one year to bring case back to court, should new evidence come to light.

A man forced into a vehicle was taken to a residence and assaulted.

That’s the information being provided by RCMP in relation to an incident that happened last Sunday night at Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

The man had initially been out walking when two vehicles pulled up to him. He was later able to leave the residence and seek medical treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of further investigation, officers arrested 26-year-old Alicia Ballantyne from Saskatoon.

She’s facing over half a dozen charges including kidnapping without a firearm, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, theft under $5,000, and uttering threats.

Ballantyne’s matters were spoken to on Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court. The case was adjourned to Jan. 5 at the Montreal Lake circuit court.

Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with any information, is asked to call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
