Extreme cold still lingering in PA

Dec 21, 2022 | 12:07 PM

Prince Albert and surrounding areas are still feeling the bite of an extreme cold warning.

The alert remains for the city and surrounding communities with Environment Canada saying windchills close to -40 C or colder are possible.

The extreme cold is expected to continue through the week with temperatures plummeting in the overnight and early morning hours.

There is some relief in store as the cold is expected to subside by the weekend for temperatures going from -25 to -13 from Christmas to Dec 27.

Environment Canada said risks from extreme cold are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, those working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

You’re asked to cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

You’re also encouraged to check on older family members, friends, and neighbours.
