Sturgeon Lake’s Caleb Ermine was a man on a mission Saturday night, and let his hands and fists do the talking.

After going three rounds with Edmonton’s Matt Kluke at Unified MMA 49, Ermine had his hands raised in victory. All three judges declared him the better man. On Sunday, Ermine told paNOW he thought he had dominated the fight and had control of the octagon.

“It felt good to get my hand raised but it was a win for my coach and my team I feel, not only my win. I hope I made my community proud and also Prince Albert,” he said.

Prior to the fight, Ermine, who trains at North Wake Martial Arts, was referred to by the ring announcer as the fighting pride of Prince Albert. He himself admitted to being overcome by emotion.

“Yes it was the first time I cried before a fight,” he explained.

With the win, Saturday night, Ermine’s professional record improves to 1-2.

While it’s unclear when Ermine will fight again, he said he plans to keep training and working on his conditioning, noting how his forearms burned out in the last minute of the fight.
