Mr. Grinch returns to PA to spread Christmas Joy to others

The Grinch has made his return to Prince Albert for the holidays and he’s not here to steal Christmas. Instead, he’s here to do the opposite.

For the second straight year, the fuzzy green creature travelled from his cave on Mount Crumpit to PA to spread Christmas cheer to people of all ages and to also give back to PA and support local charities.

Despite his grouchy persona, he raised over $1200 for the pediatric unit at Victoria Hospital during the holidays last year. This year, however, will be a bit different.

In an interview with the creature himself, Mr. Grinch told paNOW that he, and some of his friends, will be raising money for two different charities this holiday season compared to one last year.

“I’m teaming up with Santa Claus and we’re raising money together for the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric unit,” he said. “We also brought Mont St. Joseph on board with the veterans, so we got two different charities that we’re raising money for this year.”

Prince Albert residents may have seen Mr. Grinch around the city in recent weeks as he’s made a few public appearances.

He was first spotted at the city’s Santa Claus parade as a part of a float and just last night, he was spotted again at the Raiders game where kids and families were able to interact with him and even take some pictures. He even appeared on the WHL’s official Twitter account as a part of a highlight on Cole Peardon’s first-period marker.

According to him, he’ll be making another public appearance in the very near future.

“We do have our major event coming up,” he said. “That will be inside at the East End Rink. We have a room and there will be a backdrop with some chairs, I think we might have a hot chocolate booth in there too along with some other things. That’s all happening on Sunday, Dec. 18 from 12-5 p.m. and it’s completely free.”

More information about the event can be found by clicking here.

Mr. Grinch added that some of his friends will be at the event, which includes his good buddies Santa Claus and Cindy Lou Who. He also said that because it’s happening so close to Christmas, Santa and Cindy can’t stay for long so the event will only be a one-time thing.

He went on to say that what happened in Whoville all those years ago changed him for the better and now he wants to spread as much happiness and holiday cheer as he can.

“I do it because I like Christmas,” he said. “I love seeing people happy. I enjoy giving back to the community and making the world a more positive and better place.”
