Sales of PA#SK merchandise triple as more people send them across Canada

Chances are you’ve seen them around town or online, but did you know that PA#SK merchandise has become a hot commodity across the country?

Tourism Prince Albert has been selling the products since last year when they introduced a line of clothing with the letters PA and SK bookending a wheat sheath with a tree line above and waves of water below.

Initially, the department wanted to sell bunny hugs, sweatshirts, and T-shirts to tourists as souvenirs to promote Prince Albert.

But what happened next was beyond all their expectations.

“Right now, what we’re seeing is a large amount of people that have family, people that are tied back to P.A., they’re putting these out there and shipping them and sending them, shipping them out across the country all the way from Vancouver Island to the East Coast,” Duane Krip with Tourism Prince Albert said.

So far this month, Krip said that sales of the merchandise have tripled from the same time last year.

“It’s a great testament to being able to promote Prince Albert with local residents going out with their logoed apparel to talk about Prince Albert,” he added.

Krip said residents love the logo because it captures the best of what Prince Albert is about: Agriculture, forest and lakes.

Tourism Prince Albert has now expanded its merchandise to include coffee mugs, fridge magnets, frisbees, key chains and sunglasses.

“There’s a lot of people, their roots are here in P.A. and they want this logoed apparel as a reminder of home.”

That merchandise can be found at the Tourism Prince Albert office on the intersection with Second Ave. and Marquis Road.
