Mintos cruise past Warriors in weekend set

PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Mintos collected four points in the standings this past weekend when they won back-to-back games against the Moose Jaw Winmar Warriors at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Mintos outscored Moose Jaw 10-2 across both games, winning 4-1 on Saturday and 6-1 on Sunday.

Saturday’s game was also the Mintos’ annual Food Drive Game where spectators of the game were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. According to a volunteer on the team, they collected over 400 lbs of food that will be donated to the Prince Albert Food Bank.

During Saturday’s bout, Ashton Tait and Owen Dyck both potted three points where Tait had two goals and one assist, and Dyck scored once while adding two assists. Van Taylor also lit the lamp in the contest while Logan Pickford had a helper.

Connor Miller scored the lone marker for the Warriors while Bryce Boughen and Cooper Buhay both had assists on the play.

Fast forward to Sunday where the Mintos had six different goal scorers. Kelan Simmonds, Will Whitter, Logan Pickford, Van Taylor, Konnor Watson, and Abinet Klassen all found the back of the net in the game while Watson, Taylor, Carson Olsen, Brady Holtvogt, Raydr Wallington, and Caden Dunn all grabbed assists.

Across both games, Holtvogt and Jayden Kraus combined for 48 total saves where PA now improves to 11-8-0-1 on the campaign.

As for the Warriors, Ryan Bain and Ryan Hicks made a combined 30 saves as Moose Jaw falls to 7-10-0-3 on the year.

Next up for the Mintos is a trip down south to Yorkton where they’ll square off against the Maulers for a two-game set on the weekend.
