Over $239K raised during Give A Little Life Day 2022

The community came together once again to support the greatest needs of the Victoria Hospital Foundation (VHF).

The total amount raised for this year’s Give a Little Life Day hit $239,132.

Executive Director of the VHF Cody Barnett said he was blown away by the community’s response.

“It’s absolutely remarkable to see the community come together. I’m in awe, it’s just a fantastic day.”

Donations came from many community members, local businesses and organizations including the Royal Purple Elks, Prince Albert Police, the PA Fire Department, Dr. Java’s, and Emma Lake Golf Course.

The donations came in different sizes as some donated thousands of dollars while others like Halle Twyver and her brother donated $100.

Barnett said, every little bit counts.

“We know the state of the economy, everyone is feeling the pinch of inflation right now but to see the community come together this way. $239,000 in 12 hours, that’s remarkable.”

Throughout the 12-hour event, stories of different people impacted by the hospital were shared on Power99, Beach Radio and CKBI. They were stories from those who were treated at the hospital and those who work tirelessly to give the best care to patients.

“For us at the foundation, that’s what gets us to come to work every day,” said Barnett. “We know what the hospital means to the people in this community and getting to share their stories and the gratitude people have for our healthcare workers has just been the best part of the day.”

Some of the projects the money will go towards include the purchase of vital, life-saving specialized equipment for the hospital, furniture and equipment for patient care, health care education, renovations, and repairs.
