Bratvold announces retirement from Sask. Rivers School Division

The Director of Education for the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division has announced his retirement.

Robert Bratvold, who has been the director since 2011, said July 31, 2023, will be his final day with the division.

“I have been deliberating for some time and have come to the decision to submit my resignation for the purpose of retirement,” Bratvold wrote in a statement. “Trustees on this board, senior administration and staff who serve this division, have been a treasured part of my life for nearly 12 years and I have valued the guidance, collaboration, and support. It has been a privilege to work with you in doing great things for students.”

The SRPSD said in a release to paNOW that Bratvold’s leadership helped the division navigate many challenges and celebrate many achievements.

“The division navigated threats to school board autonomy and managed budgets during severely challenging financial times,” the statement reads. “Despite the challenges, Bratvold has supported the division in establishing meaningful partnerships, revitalizing its policy and procedures, expanding its student programming, and growing the division’s passion and capacity for inclusion.”

The Board of Trustees will begin a recruitment process for Bratvold’s replacement later this week. Plans to recognize and celebrate his contributions to SRPSD and public education will be announced later.
