REGINA, Sask. – The partnership between Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) and STARS Air Ambulance was celebrated during the official kick-off of the six-day show in Regina, Sask.

The Agribition logo is now permanently displayed on a helicopter in the STARS fleet after CWA raised a total of $250,000 for the organization over the past eight years.

STARS president and CEO Andrea Robertson, STARS flight paramedic Darcy McKay and CWA President Kim Hextall were selected for the brand burning this year.

The Burning of the Brand this year featured the STARS logo signifying the importance of the relationship between the two organizations.

Robertson said STARS is grateful for the partnership with CWA over the years.

“We hope to continue to find more ways to support each other’s organizations moving forward and this permanent display on one of our helicopters shows that commitment,” Robertson said.

STARS is CWA’s charity of choice for the 50/50 draw and other activities during each show. Once again at this year’s Agribition, show attendees can support STARS by purchasing a 50/50 ticket from the volunteers located throughout the grounds.

Robertson said they expect to raise a lot of money this week.

“We’ve got an anonymous donor that is willing to match up to $100,000 which is unbelievable,” she said. “The donor, it was important to them, that they support Agribition as well as STARS.”

Hextall said STARS provides an important resource to rural and remote areas.

“During an emergency situation, STARS provides a vital service to anyone living, working, or travelling in Saskatchewan,” Hextall said. “Because of that we are proud to continue our partnership with this valuable organization in our province.”

Agribition continues through to Saturday.
