Over $150,000 in gaming grants go to PA groups

Gambling pays off if you are a community group that holds bingos and raffles or even Texas Hold’em or Monte Carlo events.

On Thursday morning, the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA), released the latest numbers regarding grants for the last quarter.

Among the local efforts, the Victoria Hospital Foundation was the biggest recipient with just under $60,000 earned.

The Métis Friendship Centre saw the next largest funding boost at just over $8,000 followed by the SPCA with $6,000 in grants.

Multiple other groups and sports teams also earned some money through the grants.

Communities surrounding Prince Albert got another $50,000 and North Battleford and the surrounding area received $129,615.

The quarterly grants are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
