Prince Albert locks up medals at provincial jiu-jitsu tournament

The Saskatchewan Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Provincial championship was held in Moose Jaw over the weekend, and several Prince Albert athletes returned home with medals.

Representing the BJJ Lab, Kayley Clarke won gold in her division, a first for the club and the city.

Clarke also won gold at last month’s Queen City Open.

From the Renegade Grappling Academy, 17-year-old Landon Mudjar took silver for his adult blue belt division, then beat a purple belt for the Champion of Champions. His jiu-jitsu record is now 33 wins and four losses.

From North Wake Martial Arts, Erica and Celina Jacobson each won silver, losing only on points. In the adult division, Riley Mayer won silver.

Meanwhile, Craig Wicks travelled to the Alberta Provincial Open tournament in Red Deer and won silver. He had one submission win and one loss via points.
