New funding paves way for cultural centre for Muskoday, new bridge for Meota
Improving community hall spaces and replacing bridges are just some of the projects benefiting from new provincial and federal infrastructure funding.
On Monday, Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, and Don McMorris, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Government Relations, announced more than $40 million in joint funding for nine infrastructure projects across Saskatchewan.
Among the projects are renovations to the community hall in Candle Lake and the construction of a cultural centre in Muskoday First Nation.
“It’s something that we really need,” said Chief Ava Bear. “One of our goals is to try to incorporate more of our culture back into our community, back into our teaching. They do teach the Cree language in the school but the parents and grandparents, we’re not learning.”
