Fourth flight of displaced Ukrainians to land in Saskatchewan on Nov. 23

A fourth flight of displaced Ukrainians is to arrive in Saskatchewan this month, but this time it’s bound for Saskatoon.

In a media release Thursday, the provincial government announced that registration was open for the flight, which is expected to arrive in the Bridge City on Nov. 23. The previous three flights all went to Regina.

After the fourth flight lands, around 2,300 displaced Ukrainians will have arrived in Saskatchewan since Russia invaded Ukraine.

“The Government of Saskatchewan, along with a number of community groups, organizations and individuals continue to provide settlement support to the Ukrainian families arriving into our province,” Immigration and Career Training Minister Jeremy Harrison said in the release. “We are proud of the continuous generosity that has been shown by the people of Saskatchewan.”

The flights have been arranged in partnership with the humanitarian organizations Solidaire and Open Arms. Representatives of those organizations signed a memorandum of understanding with Premier Scott Moe on Aug. 12, pledging to partner on five flights into Saskatchewan by March 31, 2023.
