Bantam River Riders roll to Championship game

One local football team just keeps on winning and now they have their eyes on the top prize.

The Prince Albert Bantam River Riders won their semifinal game in an overtime thriller 30-24 over the Clavet Cougars.

This was the second straight week the River Riders beat the Cougars after scoring a 24-20 win in the regular season finale on Oct. 24.

With the win, the River Riders keep their undefeated season alive as they head into the championship game against the Raiders, who beat the Steelers 18-6 in the other semifinal.

These two teams last met on the season opener on Sept. 11, where the River Riders escaped with a 16-13 victory.

Meanwhile, the Pee Wee River Riders were also in action this past weekend in the consolation final, the Hilltops Bowl. Unfortunately, the Raiders proved too much for them in a 42-26 defeat.

The Bantam River Riders will now put their perfect season on the line in the league championship which goes on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. in Saskatoon.
