Prince Albert boxers put on show in Saskatoon

Prince Albert was well represented this past weekend during a special fight night in Saskatoon.

Cole Ahenakew and Chaylee Armitage both took part in the event Saturday, which included special guest, boxing legend Butterbean.

Ahenakew won the Courageous Boxer of the Night trophy after beating Saskatoon’s Jose Nunez.

Ahenakew was rocked in the first round but fought his way back to victory. Their fight was also awarded the best bout of the night.

Chaylee Armitage put on a courageous effort in her match with Havana Demers, and narrowly lost to a much more experienced boxer.

The event Saturday night was hosted by the Kopas Boxing Club and had 13 fights on the card.

Meanwhile there is an update to the Red Wolf’s Boxing Club’s planned Silver Gloves tournament, that was cancelled earlier this month due to a lack of officials.

The event has now been scheduled to run Jan. 7 to 8.
