WEYBURN, SK – The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings got the better of the Prince Albert Northern Bears on Sunday afternoon, winning 3-1 at Crescent Point Place.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

PA got on the board first midway through the opening period when Julia Cey and Tristyn Endicott connected with Jacquelyne Chief on the powerplay who scored her third of the season.

Weyburn would get a goal in the dying minutes of the frame however, with Julianne Girardin finding twine to tie it going into the second.

Unfortunately for PA, that first period marker was the only goal they would score.

The Gold Wings went on to score twice more in the game with Ashton Bender netting one in the second and Julianne Girardin scoring her second of the game in the third. As the clock hit zero, Weyburn earned their first win of the season by defeating PA 3-1.

Annika Neufeldt took the loss for the Bears, stopping 29 shots as PA now falls to 1-6-0-0 on the campaign.

Weyburn netminder Amy Swayze made 34 saves earning the win and helping the Gold Wings improve to 1-4-0-1 on the year.

The Bears are back at the Art Hauser Centre for their next matchup where they’ll play host to the Swift Current Innovation Credit Union Wildcats on Saturday.
