It’s the next big show to hit the EA Rawlinson Centre and you might say the cast is getting ready for a truly revealing performance.

This weekend, the Simon Beaufoy play “The Full Monty” will grace Prince Albert for three shows: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

The production follows the story of a steel plant that unfortunately goes under, leaving its employees out of a job.

As trying to find work to pay bills becomes unsuccessful, six of those workers come together with a unique idea to earn money: performing an all-male striptease.

“They learn dancing together and they end up putting a show on for their community at the end which they earn a lot of money doing,” said choreographer and cast member Elizabeth Chamberlain.

Auditions for the show took place in August with rehearsals starting in September.

Chamberlain said the rehearsals and all the preparations for the big show have gone smoothly.

“It’s such a funny and comedic show that everybody has really good spirits when we’re in rehearsal,” she said. “We all have a lot of fun and we’re also extremely productive, so it’s been a really easy rehearsal process.”

With many theatrical productions taking a backseat due to COVID-19 restrictions these past few years, live theatre has only recently made a comeback in the city.

Chamberlain said it’s a relief to have these productions back and welcome theatre lovers to the stage.

“I think a lot of people have missed coming together as a community to watch theatre and a lot of people have really missed being in theatre to stretch those theatre muscles,” she said. “This is, I think, a really good show to have that it’s so funny and comedic for everybody watching that it will be very enlivening for everyone.”

Tickets for “The Full Monty” are still available. All three shows start at 7:30 p.m.
