Prince Albert Police investigate carjacking at local drive-thru

Oct 19, 2022 | 2:00 PM

Prince Albert police are investigating an incident that happened during breakfast rush hour, when families are typically headed out for morning practice.

Police say around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, a person exited a vehicle they were in and approached the driver of a second vehicle in the drive-thru lane. The suspect stole the vehicle. The business was located in the city’s Cornerstone shopping area.

A spokesperson for the police service, said the male suspect was tall and thin. The vehicle the suspect exited was a dark coloured SUV, possibly a GMC Acadia or Chevrolet Traverse.

When asked about injuries, the police spokesperson said they were not aware of any physical ones to the victim of the carjacking.

The stolen vehicle was recovered later that day outside the city. The persons responsible have not yet been caught, police say.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

While paNOW has chosen not to identify the business involved, our newsroom did reach out to the owner who said he had no details and had not spoken to police. He was able to confirm there are no cameras overlooking the drive-thru.
