Kyla Art Show welcomes back in-person crowd

The return of the Kyla Art group’s annual Show and Sale next weekend, will mark the first time in three years people can attend the event in person.

Plaza 88 will host the event on Oct. 23. Coordinator Kim Morrall is hoping for a good turnout.

“It used to be sort of a premiere event in Prince Albert and we would run out of tickets,” she said.

There will be two sessions held. The one in the afternoon will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.; and the evening reception will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reflecting on the past two years, where the event has been run virtually, Morrall mentioned it wasn’t a total disappointment.

“The good thing about it is it got us to start up a website but in-person is still always better,” she said.

Proceeds from the event will go to support the Prince Albert Optimist Club. The exhibits will include canvass paintings, wood burnings, metal works, and jewely. Annette Henbid is President and Treasurer of the arts group and also among the featured artists. She too is looking forward to having an in-person event.

“Its just gonna be nice to see the people. I’ve been laying low for the last couple years so I haven’t been getting out to many events at all,” she explained.

Henbid mentioned a personal desire to see a local artist whose pieces have gems embedded in them.

“So I think they are going to look really quite lovely in person and the photographs just didn’t do them justice,” she said.

If purchased in advance, tickets for the events are $20 and are available through any of the art group’s members, or at On the Avenue Artisan’s Gallery, GP Carlson Art Gallery, Sandra’s Framing or at the Optimist Club. At the door, tickets will cost $25.
