Police presence in Christopher Lake results in three arrests

Oct 11, 2022 | 4:00 PM

Three people have been charged and another is at large after a vehicle failed to stop for police near Christopher Lake.

Last Friday, an RCMP Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan officer was doing traffic patrols on Highway 2 north of Christopher Lake when they observed an SUV speeding.

The driver did not stop for the officer when they attempted a traffic stop.

A short time later, officers found the vehicle at a business in Christopher Lake. Three people in the vehicle were arrested while a fourth fled on foot and has still not been found.

An investigation into the vehicle uncovered it and its licence plate were stolen in separate incidents in Prince Albert. Upon searching the vehicle, police found ammunition and two passports not belonging to the occupants.

Tanis Lacoq of Prince Albert faces six charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, and possession of property obtained by crime.

Mercedes Morin and Cheyenne Morin also face charges of possession of property obtained by crime. They are due to appear in Prince Albert provincial court on Nov. 21.

Prince Albert RCMP continues to investigate and is asking anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
