Saskatchewan’s Education Minister will soon make a visit to Prince Albert.

The Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division (SRPSD) and Prince Albert Catholic School Division will welcome Minister Dustin Duncan on Oct. 17.

Duncan will be touring John Diefenbaker School to help showcase the work being done in the school’s Cree language classrooms, inclusive education programming, and mental health supports.

“The Minister of Education looks forward to meeting with Prince Albert Catholic and Saskatchewan Rivers School Divisions on October 17 to discuss their many accomplishments and collaborate on our shared goal of student success,” A spokesperson for the Ministry of Education said in a statement.

“The Minister is pleased to tour two schools and see firsthand the incredible work of our teachers and school staff.”

The meeting was discussed as part of the SRPSD regular Board meeting on Monday.

Another item discussed at the meeting was an introduction of the newly elected Students For Change trustees, Max Pahtayken from PACI and Mallie Mitchell from Birch Hills School.

Board trustees also heard from a group from Wildrose Public School in Shellbrook. The delegation from the school shared their school improvement plan as part of the accountability report on Learning Improvement Plans.

The group highlighted their involvement in the Saskatchewan Rivers Leadership Learning

Communities led by Hingley and her team as their springboard for the shifts in thinking, and valuable use of time to build staff capacity.
