Three Prince Albert residents will soon be recognized for their achievements in the local sports scene.

On Oct. 22, the annual Raiders and Kinsmen Sportsman dinner will take place in the Ches Leach Lounge in the Art Hauser Centre. The guest speaker will be six-time NHL All-Star and Stanley Cup Champion Ray Bourque.

During the ceremony, the Sportsman of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, and Female Athlete of the Year will be recognized.

Duane Krip will be honoured as Sportsman of the Year for his work as President of PA minor baseball and the “Grand Slam” rebuild project. That project includes extending two existing baseball diamonds and building two new diamonds at the new Baseball Complex in Crescent Heights.

Josh Manson, who won the Stanley Cup with Colorado this past summer has been named Male Athlete of the Year. Manson was last in P.A. in July where he brought the Stanley Cup to teams and players of the Prince Albert Minor Hockey Association.

Finally, triathlete Anne Charles is this year’s recipient of the Female Athlete of the Year.

Charles was to make her long-distance triathlon debut in 2020 at the Oliver Half Ironman but like most events in 2020, it was cancelled. In 2021 she completed her first half Ironman at the Calgary half Ironman where she came 3rd in the female 25-29 age group. Her ultimate long-distance triathlon goal was to complete an Ironman and this August she not only finished but got to step on the podium coming 3rd in the 25-29 age group

Tickets for this year’s Sportsman Dinner are still available.
