SASKATOON, SK- Tyler Parr played the roll of overtime hero on Saturday night, helping the Saskatoon Blades defeat the Prince Albert Raiders 2-1 at SaskTel Centre.

The loss comes just 24 hours after falling to the Blades 5-2 at the Art Hauser Centre.

A lucky last second break in overtime led to Brandon Lisowsky shooting the puck at the Raiders net, which resulted in Parr having a wide-open net with just one second left on the clock.

Lukas Hansen also scored for Saskatoon while Tanner Molendyk, Aidan De La Gorgendiere, and Charlie Wright also collected assists in the contest.

Raiders forward Hayden Pakkala netted the lone Raiders marker while Trevor Thurston and Ryder Ritchie each collected helpers.

Raiders netminder Max Hildebrand made 14 stops in the loss. PA falls to 0-1-1-0 on the campaign.

Blades goalie Austin Elliott made 24 saves on 25 shots as Saskatoon improves to 2-0-0-0 on the year.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Saskatoon broke the ice midway through the first by scoring in an unusual way. A Blades point shot took a funny bounce off the boards and landed on Hansen’s stick who then quickly put it away for the lead.

The lead wouldn’t last long though as the Raiders scored quickly after on the powerplay. Thurston’s point shot was deflected in front by Pakkala and past Elliott to tie the game after the first period.

A scoreless second saw many penalties and scoring chances, but tempers began to flare midway through the period as Evan Herman was slew footed by Tanner Molendyk behind the Saskatoon net. For his actions, the Blades defenseman was gifted a five-minute major and a game misconduct. The third period was much of the same as Saskatoon forward Justin Lies also received a five-minute penalty and a game misconduct for charging Vladislav Shilo.

The game ended up going to overtime where the extra frame saw the Blades pull off the buzzer beater. A Brandon Lisowsky shot was turned aside by Hildebrand but with just one second left on the clock, Tylar Parr managed to clean up the loose puck in front to give Saskatoon the 2-1 win over the Raiders.

The Raiders are back at home for their next contest on Wednesday night where the Winnipeg ICE will visit the Art Hauser Centre.
