Carlton shuts out Walter Murray 28-0

Sep 23, 2022 | 10:10 PM

The Carlton Crusaders kept to their winning ways on Friday night, blanking the Walter Murray Marauders 28-0 at Max Clunie Field.

A dominant first half led to a comfortable lead going into halftime for the Crusaders, which they built off of to help double their score by the end of the game.

Carlton quarterback Sullivan Smith-Windsor helped lead the red and gold in the win, rushing for 18 yards on four carries while passing for an additional 166 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception on nine of sixteen attempts.

Crusader receiver Tristan O’Connell had a repeat game from last week, catching for 115 receiving yards with two touchdowns while Carlton running back Scott Adamko ran for 49 yards on seven carries with one touchdown.

Walter Murray quarterback Jayden Mansfield threw for 149 yards on ten of nineteen attempts. Marauder running back Sam Wardell ran for 31 yards on 12 carries.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

Much like their last game, Carlton dominated their opponents in the first half.

A back and forth first quarter led to the Crusaders scoring on the last play of the half. A Smith-Windsor pass found a wide-open O’Connell who took it to the house to give Carlton the lead.

The second quarter was much of the same, but backwards. The red and gold scored on their second drive of the quarter, marching down the field before Adamko ran the ball into the end zone for a 14-0 Crusader lead at halftime.

Carlton continued their beat down by adding another touchdown with Smith-Windsor connecting with O’Connell to extend the lead yet again just before the fourth quarter.

The Crusaders let up a bit in the fourth but still added a couple more points. Carlton netted a field goal and forced two Walter Murray safeties to seal the win, 28-0.

Carlton is back in action on Thursday when the St. Joseph Guardians visit Max Clunie Field.
