Victims of stabbing attack identified

The Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, in conjunction with the Saskatchewan RCMP and in collaboration with the families of the deceased victims, are releasing the names of the people who died as a result of the September 4, stabbings on James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon, SK. A total of 11 people were killed in the attacks including one of the suspects; 18 others were injured.

Police said several families of the deceased provided photographs of their loved ones to share with the public. They will not be identifying or confirming any relationships of the individuals identified.

In a media release, the RCMP said, “Our hearts continue to go out to all the families and loved ones impacted by this immense tragedy. Victims Services continues to work closely with Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes and communicate with the families of the deceased and injured victims.

The identities of injured persons will not be released. Police confirmed one young teen was injured and the remaining injured are all adults.

The search for the remaining suspect continues.

Candlelight vigils for the victims have been planned for Wednesday night in Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert. The one in Prince Albert will take place outside City Hall at 7p.m.
