LEÓN, Mexico — Canada conceded a 93rd-minute goal in a 1-0 loss to Colombia on Wednesday in its opening match at the Women’s Revelations Cup, a four-country tournament featuring teams preparing for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup later this year in India.

Stefania Perlaza’s header off a Laura Garavito’s free kick won it for Colombia.

“It was a good test against a good opponent and we had a couple of new players who got their debuts and significant minutes,” said Canada coach Emma Humphries. “There were some big performances that helped us step up today, which gets me excited for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. We’re getting there and we’re progressing well.”

Canadians Faith Fenwick and Kayla Briggs played in their first youth international match.

The Canadian women face host Mexico on Saturday before wrapping up play against Chile on Tuesday.

Canada qualified for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, which runs Oct. 11 to 30, by virtue of its third-place finish at the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in May in the Dominican Republic.
