Agriculture Roundup for Wednesday August 31, 2022
MELFORT, Sask. – Soon, producers won’t have to fill out Statistics Canada crop production surveys.
The federal agency said it plans to stop asking those questions. Instead, it will use satellite technology, administrative data, and advanced modelling techniques to produce its crop production estimates by 2026.
The new reporting will be called AgZero. StatsCAN already uses the technology to produce two of its four reports. One of those reports was released Monday.
