Sinkhole opens up near P.A.’s EA Rawlinson Centre

Aug 28, 2022 | 9:28 AM

A sinkhole has opened up on one of Prince Albert’s roads.

It’s located at the intersection of 2 Avenue West and 12 Street West, near the EA Rawlinson Centre.

Residents in the area reportedly experienced some water issues, however, they appear to be resolved.

The city of P.A. has confirmed that the sinkhole was caused by a water main break. City crews will officially start repair work on Monday.

In the meantime, 12 Street West between 1 Avenue West and 2 Avenue West has been blocked off. 11 Street West, around the EA Rawlinson Centre, has also been closed off.

Meanwhile, those planning on watching the last showing of “Rock of Ages” at EA Rawlinson can still do so.

Parking is available in the Gateway Mall parking lot with the centre asking people to be extra cautious when walking over.

The show is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
