The Victoria Hospital Foundation will receive thousands of dollars thanks to a recent music festival in the area.

The Sunset Country Music Festival, a fundraising concert series, was held near MacDowell last Friday. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Hospital Foundation.

An online post about the Sunset Country Music Festival.

The event featured music from Joshua Stumpf, Mercy Glover, and Taya Lebel.

“It was our first time putting this show on”, said Stumpf, who helped organize the concert series. “The idea behind it was to bring back live music for the young crowd and to come out, have some fun, and put all the money towards a charity.”

Stumpf said they sold nearly 200 tickets which resulted in $3,000 for the Victoria Hospital Foundation.

He and the other organizers are hopeful this will be an annual event and they’re already working on plans for 2023.

“We haven’t decided who we’re going to partner with quite yet to give the money. It’s definitely something that we want to upgrade on a larger scale.”

He said the response from concertgoers was very positive which gives me a lot of hope that the Sunset Festival can only grow in the coming years.
