Dairy Queen celebrates 20 years of Miracle Treat Days

Aug 11, 2022 | 8:37 AM

This year marks two decades of Dairy Queen’s annual Miracle Treat Day, in support of Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital.

According to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation Community Engagement Director Tanner Braaten, all proceeds from Dairy Queen Blizzards sold across Saskatchewan on August 11 will be donated in support of the JPCHF.

“When you purchase a blizzard at Dairy Queen on Miracle Treat Day, it directly impacts the children and families in Saskatchewan,” he said. “Your support helps ensure they have access to specialized health care close to home when they need it most.”

Over the years, Dairy Queen has raised nearly $50 million for Children’s Miracle Network member hospitals from across Canada. As for P.A’s restaurant, they’ve raised five to six thousand dollars each year. And in Shellbrook, they raised just over four thousand dollars in their first Miracle Treat Day last year.

Going into its second year, Shellbrook Dairy Queen manager Shelley Collins hopes that this years total will be much more than last years.

“I would like to double the total compared to last year,” she said. “We’re going to be doing a car show from 6-8pm tomorrow and we want as many people to come out and buy a blizzard to support Jim Pattison Children’s hospital.”

The Children’s Miracle Network raises funds and awareness for 170 children’s hospitals across Canada and the United States. More than 10 million sick and injured kids visit a member hospital every year.

Miracle Treat Day will continue at Prince Albert’s location until closing at 11 p.m. tonight.
