Raiders sign third-rounder Chenier

As training camp nears and the first exhibition game is now less than a month away, the Prince Albert Raiders have officially signed another member of their stable of draft picks from the recent prospects draft.

Forward Oli Chenier, one of two of the team’s third-round selections in the 2022 WHL prospects draft, has officially signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement. Chenier was the 60th overall pick in the draft, taken with a selection the Raiders acquired in a trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds earlier that day.

“Oli’s a high IQ player and a hard competitor who makes quick decisions,” Raiders director of player personnel, Bruno Zarrillo, said. “He reminds me of Ozzy Wiesblatt. He’s got a lot of upside and he’s going to be an exciting player to watch.”

Last season, Chenier was a key member of the Winnipeg Wild’s U15 AAA team, posting 30 goals and 52 points in just 27 games, both of which led his team. He played with the U17 AAA team in the playoffs and continued to score, posting two goals and an assist in three games.
