The Conservation Learning Centre held its annual Field Day on Thursday, a day that showcased new research projects and equipment they use on the farm.

Approximately 100 flocked to the centre to learn about some of the research that goes on there, and as research manager, Robin Lokken, said, there’s a variety of people who come out to the centre every year.

“We get producers, agronomists, and even just the general public who have an interest in what we’re doing,” she said.

The research varies from normal crops like peas and lentils to crops that aren’t grown in this area like mung beans and lupin.

Lokken mentioned that the tour stopped by some crops that were well into their trials.

“Our tour highlighted our cabbage variety trial,” she said. “We also featured our copper wheat trial and stopped by our pulse demonstrations.”

A variety of different farming equipment was also on display for visitors to look at, including a small plot seeder, a crop bagger, as well as a miniature combine.
