Six Prince Albert athletes are back home with medals from different track and field events.

The provincial championship was held this weekend in Saskatoon where competitors got the chance to compete against others in the same age group.

Leading the way for P.A. was Raedyn Reddekopp who took home six medals, five golds and one silver, in the girls’ U14 category. The five wins were in the 80m dash, discus throw, super weight ball throw, shot put, and long jump.

“She’s an athlete,” said Mike Taylor, sprint coach for PA Athletics.

Peighton Tait, who competed in the same category as Reddekopp, took home three medals. This included a gold in the 150m dash, beating out Reddekopp who came in second.

Siblings Stryker and Storm Zablocki took home a combined four gold medals. Stryker, who competed in the women’s U16 category, came first in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and long jump, while Storm, who competed in the men’s senior category, won the 200m dash.

Taylor joked that the two have an intense sibling rivalry.

“They’re always trying to outdo each other.”

Other medal winners include Jackson Hufnagel who took home a silver in the men’s U18 400m dash and a bronze in the 200m dash and Jacob Klassen who came third in the U18 1,500m race.

Taylor, who also competed in the senior men’s category but didn’t medal, said he sees big things in each of their futures.

“I’d love to see Olympics or national teams…they’re getting close.”
