Accused in Cumberland House homicide has next court date set

The man accused of killing 24-year-old Marisha Hoksbergen in Cumberland House will have his next court appearance in La Ronge on July 7.

Alvin Thomas, age 39, is facing one charge of second-degree murder following an altercation in the community on May 30.

Hoksbergen was taken to the clinic in the community after the fight and pronounced dead by EMS workers.

He was arrested in Prince Albert on June 4.

Thomas will also be in Prince Albert court on August 23 to be tried on unrelated charges stemming from an incident in Prince Albert.

Those charges include break and enter, some firearms related charges, an obstruction charge and a breach of probation charge.
